CONGRATULATIONS BURUNDI ON 49TH INDEPENDENCE

MONDAY, 04 JULY 2011

US President Obama and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

Exclusive News

On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I am
delighted to send best wishes to the people of Burundi as you celebrate 49 years
of independence this July 1.
Your success in the 2010 elections and your continued efforts to build a
new political culture that prioritizes peace and dialogue over conflict and violence
is admirable. Throughout the African continent, you have demonstrated a
commitment to stability and have become a role model for other countries. In
Somalia, you are contributing to peaceful resolution through the African Union
Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and many have lost their lives. As you celebrate
this special day, know that the United States remains committed to continuing
our history of friendship and cooperation.
Hillary Rodham Clinton

are working hard to let the world know they are
welcome to Burundi to see there is a strong
model of leadership with correct priorities in
place that are leading Burundi in a healthy, safe
